Our Faculty
At present, our department have 16 in-service faculty members (2 part-time overseas); 15 of them have doctorate degree and 8 of them have study experience overseas for more than 1 year. The diversified team including 6 professors, 3 associate professors and 7 lecturers (5 doctoral tutors & 9 master tutors), is also led by 1 Changjiang Scholar and 1 “Hundred Plan Talent” of Shaanxi Province. In 2011, our team was awarded the title of Teaching Team of Shaanxi Province. The logistics engineering major was awarded the title of Featured Major of Shaanxi Province in 2011, the title of “First-class Major of Shaanxi Province” in 2017, and the tile of “National First-class Undergraduate Major” in 2019.
Professional Features
Logistics engineering, relying on the national key discipline Transportation Engineering, the innovation platform of featured discipline in national 985 Project, and the revitalizing auto and logistics industries, is focusing on the automobile manufacture and road transport, which has distinctive characteristics of the automobile and road transportation. It is committed to train high-quality professionals with strong innovative and practical capabilities, and with international experience for automotive and road transport industries. It is a distinctive, promising, and competitive National First-class Undergraduate Major, which has now developed into a full training system for undergraduates, masters, and PhDs.
Research and Development
Taking the basic functional activities such as transportation, warehousing, and distribution, as research subjects, our team conduct research on various aspects of logistics, including the planning of logistics system, the allocation of resources, the optimization and control of logistics system operation process, the integrated development and application of logistics technology and equipment, the intelligent operation and scheduling of logistics vehicles, and the design and operation management of supply chain, which involve in-depth theoretical and technical study of operations research, information system, equipment integration, and system planning and control.
Teaching and research achievement
In terms of teaching, our team have planned and constructed a series of quality courses, video open courses, bilingual courses and online open courses. We have obtained 2 first-prize awards for teaching achievements in Shaanxi Province, Research and practice of strengthening practical teaching and cultivating innovative professionals for road transport industry, and Exploration and research on the innovation and reformation of teaching methods using internet and intelligent technology”; 2 second-prize awards for teaching achievements in Shaanxi Province, Exploration and practice of the training modes of undergraduates in logistics, and Research and practice of undergraduate training program formulation methods and technical support system”; 1 special prize for teaching achievement of Chang’an University, “Research and practice on improving the quality of undergraduate training with constructing golden courses using internet and intelligent technology”. The undergraduates in logistics entered the finals of previous “National Contest on Logistics Design”, among which we won first prize three times, and second prize twice.
In terms of research, faculty members of the department have undertaken hundreds of key research projects commissioned by National Science Foundation of China, the Ministry of Transport, the Science Foundation of Shaanxi Province, the Postdoctoral Fund of China, local government departments and enterprises in various provinces and cities.
Employment
Students of logistics engineering have average employment rate of 94.2%, and average rate of conducting further study as 30.4% during the past three years. Students graduated from our program are mainly employed in the following area, such as automotive manufacture, constructions, modern logistics planning and design, technology and equipment in logistics, smart operations of logistics vehicles, design and management of supply chain; in the meantime, some of them continue to pursue further degree in both domestic and overseas universities. Over the last three years, more than 95% of employed graduates are satisfied with their employers, while employers also speak high of them in terms of knowledge, professional skills and innovative thinking, which allow our graduates to have promising opportunities in the field of automobile manufacturing and road transport industry.
