Major Features
Vehicle engineering is an engineering specialty that studies the theory, design and manufacturing technology of land-based mobile machineries such as automobiles, rolling stock, military vehicles and other construction vehicles. Vehicle Engineering of Chang'an University has distinctive features and significant advantages. It is mainly oriented to the automotive industry and aims at the major technical needs of the automotive industry. With the development of automotive products as the goal and automotive design and manufacturing as the core, it strengthens the in-depth interdisciplinary knowledge of "vehicles-information-control-energy-materials", and emphasizes the extensive integration of multi-dimensional capabilities of "basic theoretical knowledge-engineering practice experience-thinking innovation ability", and focuses on cultivating automotive engineering talents with the wide caliber and thick foundation, who have solid theoretical knowledge, outstanding engineering ability, active innovative thinking, excellent team ability, a broad international vision. The graduates are mainly engaged in automotive-related development and design, manufacturing, experiment testing, management and decision-making. In recent years, it has followed the direction of the new four modernizations of automotive "electricity, intelligence, networking, and sharing", and has continued to expand and extend toward popular areas such as new energy vehicles and intelligent networked vehicles.
Professional courses
This program intends to cultivate advanced applied, compound, innovative and inter-disciplinary talents with the all-around development of morality, intelligence, body, beauty and labor. Students are expected to master the basic theories and professional knowledge of vehicle design, manufacturing and testing, be full of innovation and entrepreneurship, have strong research, development and practical ability, organizational management ability and international vision, and be able to work in vehicle design and development, manufacturing, testing, scientific research and technical management for related enterprises and institutions, etc. In this undergraduate training program, professional core courses, professional characteristic courses, and practice are set up for professional training goals. In addition to general education in automotive design and manufacturing, based on the development trends of automotive technology and the market, it also specifically establishes two new training programs for new energy vehicles, intelligent network vehicles and vehicle safety.

Student employment
In recent years, the probability that undergraduates majoring in vehicle engineering continue to study for a master's degree is about 50%. The main domestic universities that have entered are Jilin University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Tongji University, Hunan University, Chongqing University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beihang University, Zhejiang University, University of Science and Technology of China, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Southeast University, Chang'an University and other well-known domestic universities. The proportion of undergraduate graduates studying abroad is also increasing year by year. The main universities are the University of Illinois in the United States, the University of Tokyo in Japan, and the University College Dublin in Ireland. With the in-depth cross-integration of automobiles and cutting-edge technologies such as new energy, the Internet, big data, and artificial intelligence, the employment scope of vehicle engineering has become wider, the quality of employment has improved significantly, and the demand for graduates is in short supply.
